王羲之的《蘭亭序》是流傳了千年並且持續流動的書寫精神，鄭宇宏在個展《曲水未冷》中回望經典並思考書法在當代的位置。
展覽從《蘭亭序》中頻繁出現21次的「之」字為出發點，持續探索「之」字的書寫可能，透過反覆、疊加與重組，使文字逐漸脫離閱讀功能，游移於書法、繪畫與抽象造形之間。草書的流動與篆書的結構彼此交會，筆畫不再服務於文字辨識，而成為節奏、能量與時間的視覺痕跡。
「之」字既是語言的連結，也蘊含著移動、轉換與流動的意象。每一次書寫都因筆勢、速度與身體狀態而產生細微差異，使同一個字始終處於生成之中。筆勢因身體而生，因時間而變，文字因此超越語意，成為生命經驗的痕跡。
本次亦將新發表三維書寫系列的文字立體作品，進一步將書寫延伸至空間，使筆勢突破平面的界限，形成另一種觀看與感知的方式。
《曲水未冷》所指涉的，不僅僅是對經典的回望，也是一種仍在流動的文化狀態；當書法不再受限於文字、媒材或形式，它便成為一種持續回應當代、持續生長的創作語言。
Wang Xizhi’s Preface to the Orchid Pavilion embodies a spirit of writing that has been passed down for over a thousand years and continues to flow across time. In his solo exhibition The Flow Continues, Yu-Hung Cheng looks back to this classical source while reflecting on the position of calligraphy in the contemporary world.
The exhibition begins with the character zhi (之), which appears twenty-one times in the Preface to the Orchid Pavilion. Through repeated exploration of the character’s written possibilities, Cheng employs repetition, layering, and recomposition to gradually release the written form from its function of legibility. The character begins to drift between calligraphy, painting, and abstract form. The fluidity of cursive script intersects with the structural discipline of seal script; brushstrokes no longer serve merely to identify words, but become visual traces of rhythm, energy, and time.
The character zhi is not only a linguistic connector; it also carries imagery of movement, transition, and flow. Each act of writing produces subtle variations according to brush momentum, speed, and the condition of the body. As a result, the same character remains in a constant state of becoming. Brush movement arises from the body and changes with time, allowing writing to move beyond semantic meaning and become a trace of lived experience.
This exhibition also presents a newly developed series of three-dimensional written works, extending writing into space. By allowing brush movement to break through the limits of the flat surface, these sculptural forms open up another mode of viewing and sensing calligraphy.
The Flow Continues refers not only to a return to the classical canon, but also to a cultural condition that remains in motion. When calligraphy is no longer confined by language, medium, or form, it becomes a creative language that continues to respond to the contemporary moment and continues to grow.
