CHEN often relies on sensuality while creating. He usually works randomly and intuitively, using spontaneous brushstrokes to present his life experiences. Yu-Kai loves outdoor activities, so he often depicts elements from nature. The lighting is a moment that man cannot catch. The massive amount of bushes in the mountains symbolises the powerlessness of humankind. The splashing waves and starfish drawn on the paintings present the awareness of non-human power while surfing. He thinks riding the waves is a gift from the wind and sea. It is incidental but pleasant and exciting. CHEN interwove these elements with his memories, created non-human stories, and opened them for viewers to tell.
CHEN built a network of interaction with all things on earth through painting and invited viewers to embark on an adventurous journey. Human beings often feel fear and passion when facing the unknown. CHEN manipulated these emotions with aesthetics, arousing viewers’ sense of curiosity and excitement when viewing the works.
