The core of Chong-Xiao ZHENG's work is the idea of being an active participant in society, and therefore ZHENG's landscapes are interactive landscapes. When ZHENG saw the original piece of Travelers Among Mountains and Streams by Fan Kuan (950-1032) in the National Palace Museum of Taiwan in 2014, he noticed that the aesthetic experience of ancient paintings might be reinterpreted in a modern way and therefore be inherited. Since then, he has started a reinterpretation project by incorporating issues such as animal conservation, environmental protection, food crises, and energy shortages in his works. He also put “Little Fat Boy”, a personal icon based on his physical features with vivid brushstrokes and cartoon style, in his art, guiding viewers to embark on a journey with him.
